Zamnesia - Rosewood Essential Oil: A Fragrant Gift From the New World
Ever since it was discovered deep in the tropical rainforests of South America, rosewood oil has been treasured for its sweet aroma that perfectly blends woody notes with floral and spicy hints. Enjoy the fragrance of real rosewood oil at home with this fine essential oil from Zamnesia, distilled to perfection to preserve Aniba rosaeodora's prized aromatic properties.
Not to be confused with Dalbergia nigra (Brazilian rosewood) or Dalbergia latifolia (Indian rosewood), both hardwoods used for furniture and instruments, Aniba rosaeodora is a massive tree species that grows up to 30 metres tall and develops 2 metre-wide trunks. Though only its trunks are used to distill rosewood oil, all parts of the tree produce its distinct aroma. Once harvested, Aniba rosaeodora trunks are turned into chips and slowly steam-distilled to extract their delicate, highly aromatic essential oil. Though an endangered species, efforts are being made to make the cultivation and use of Aniba rosaeodora more sustainable.
Rosewood oil has long been considered a luxury oil used all over the world for aromatherapy purposes. Its aroma, which is woody, floral, spicy, and sweet all at once, produces a grounding and centring energy in any room. Along with other herbs and aromatics, rosewood oil is sometimes used in saunas and steam baths. It is also known to blend well with other essential oils, especially those with citric or floral notes, making it a popular ingredient in fragrances, perfumes, and blended aromatherapy oils.
How to Use Rosewood Essential Oil
Zamnesia essential oils are designed for aromatherapy and are best added to aroma diffusers, oil burners, and misting sprays. Thanks to its purity, a little goes a very long way—just 3‒5 drops from this 10 ml bottle are enough to keep any room smelling great for hours. Note that this is not a cosmetic product or medicine and is not designed for topical application. Nymphaea caerulea is stocked here as Blue Lotus, a dried botanical sold by weight rather than a bottled oil.
